Local Bloggers join the Global Celebration of Blogger.com’s 11th Anniversary

Blogger.com is a free blog publishing tool from Google for easily sharing your thoughts with theworld. They have had anniversaries before but this year, it is there first ever Blogger global birthdayparty!

The Global Celebration dubbed as ‘Blogger Fiesta’ happened and was celebrated globally lastAugust 31, 2010. Through Blogger’s corporate blog, they encouraged bloggers all over the world toorganize meet-ups, be it Big or small, it could be a simple meet up or a full blown birthday bash!

The local celebration here in cebu was simple, fun, and prizes were given away as well.

Local bloggers gathered in Asia Town IT Park, in a local coffee shop. The event kicked off ataround 6pm and ended around 9pm with a late dinner.

Aside from meeting fellow bloggers, the event served as a venue to network with fellowbloggers, get tips and learn from those who have been writing and blogging for years. The event wasalso graced with visitors from manila and as far as the UK. The visitors (wherein most were bloggers)were from Global Xchange (GX), an initiative run in partnership between the British Council and VSOBahaginan, is a volunteer exchange program which gives young people from the Philippines and UKa chance to work together to develop and share valuable skills to make a practical contribution whereit is needed in local communities.

Here’s a quick overview about blogging in case you are not familiar about it: A blog is like awebsite but in a journal format, personal in tone and arranged in reverse chronological order.Bloggers usually post articles or short notes that they want to share, personal, reaction, observationsor otherwise. For the senior or experienced ones, they usually share personal insight or experiences.Sometimes, companies use blogs to disseminate information and keep in touch with their customers.

Blogger Fiesta Cebu was organized by GeOh Media, party packs provided by blogger.com and Supported by www.jeromelocson.com and HostFortes. A raffle was also drawn for the participants ofthe event where 2 winners won 1-year free domain and webhosting – a must for every startingblogger.

Blogger.com’s 11th Anniversary was a success. Here’s hoping for more years of blogging,improving and pursuing the passion for writing. Hopefully more events to come and Happy Bloggingeveryone!
